Chocolat

Official website of Japanese pop singer Chocolat. Includes Chocolat's mini-diary, photos, and a place where you can sample Chocolat's musical repertoire.

Euro-visions Label

France-based label Euro-visions brings a '60s French aesthetic to electronic indie-pop. Artists and re-mixers include Jean-Emmanuel Deluxe, April March, Saint Etienne, and Helena Noguerra.

Kiiiiiiii!

Utako and Reiko have no boundaries when it comes to their performance art/ band/ comedy act known as Kiiiiii! First they'll litter the venue with tacky Christmas decoration and used clothing, then they'll get dressed up as the members of Kiss, and then they'll play a set of songs that includes a rhythmically-off version of "We Are The World," a rendition of a U.S. military marching song, and a tribute to the benefits of recycling. Two nutty girls creating a beautiful mess!

Le One Night Stand!

A bi-monthly international pop + rock party in NYC hosted by Amylu + Andy Shaw (Shaw Promotions), Melody Nelson, and myself. Visit our MySpace page for the latest party info.

Marty Friedman

Formerly the guitarist of metal band, Megadeth, Marty Friedman now spends his time as a solo artist- teaching guitar, touring with Japanese rock star, Aikawa Nanase, and loving girl pop records. It was Marty who introduced me to Japanese pop music!

Marxy

The radical reconstruction of musical conventions creeping under big pop melodies. In Japanese and English.

Norn Cutson

Words cannot describe Norn Cutson's magnificent illustrations (check out Sheila's diary page). He has worked with the likes of Pizzicato Five, Ann Magnuson, and Cibo Matto, and his illustrations are regularly featured in Paper Magazine.

Scram Magazine

Bubble-gum pop singers, forgotten folk-rockers, and a dentist assistant/ psychedelic songwriter get the star treatment in this well-written magazine about unpopular culture. Scram editrix Kim Cooper is also behind my favorite book of the year- Lost In The Grooves: Scram's Capricious Guide to the Music You Missed.

Smashed! Blocked!

New York's monthly sixties freakout hosted by Josh Styles and the lovely Layla Lozano (aka DJ Peppermintwist).

Spectropop

Spectropop is an online discussion forum for enthusiasts of Phil Spector, Brill Building, West Coast Music, Soft Pop, and topics generally related to the legendary pop music of the 60s. My late friend Page (Jamie) Porazzo established this website/ group in 1997, and it has since become the ultimate reference guide for 60s pop. Jamie would be proud!

Teleport-City

This site specializes in obscure music, films, and magazines. Looking for underground Asian horror flics? An Italian cop film? Or want to read a thorough review of the Iron Chef's cookbook? Regularly updated and always entertaining!

The Ye-Ye Girls Website

The most comprehensive site available on French girl pop singers from the '60s.
