The sex addicts next door have been replaced by American Idol-izing couch potatoes, who occasionally take a break from TV to blast Madonna’s ABBA cover—with extra bass. I miss my old neighbors. We had a silent deal. They could have sex at full volume and I could do the same with my music. Perfect harmony.

Soo...... here’s the weekly recap. Le One Night Stand after-party for Saint Etienne was a proper blast. So Joe’s Pub wasn’t quite built for dancing, but get a drink or five down the throats of Monday night party people and they’re quite happy to jump on stage and get all loosy goosy (as Mike would say). Audrey aka Melody Nelson nearly caused my death by playing “Voyage Voyage” while I was caught between two boys on the couch with no way out. My only exit was jumping onto and off of a very shaky glass table. Not smart. Merlin snapped away at our dancing girls, namely go-go Valentine Anna Copacabanna, who looked stunning in red. Bob spun as adoring fans watched and waited for autographs, Layla, dressed ‘60s China doll style, kept things French and garage, while Audrey and I switched between ’68 and ’86. Played Annie’s “Heartbeat” with a purpose, and the Pet Shop Boys got a few Brits onstage raving about their love for the group. I loved them too, boys. But what went wrong?

Jump to Saturday night @ Subway Soul where I joined Nancy and Phast Phreddie for their 10-year anniversary pre-party. I’ve already warned Nancy that I won’t be able to stop gushing about her beautiful life. I just thought I should write this in my diary—incase God is reading—because really, having a smart n’sassy 17-year-old daughter named Syd (decked out in Mary Quant and dancing and singing to rare soul records), a partner with a MEGA record collection and the best soul nite in NYC, AND just being an all-round amazing and enthusiastic woman—I’d say that just about sounds perfect. And check out the anniversary cake in the photo! Nancy’s name on one 45, Phreddie’s name on the other. I’ve already got tears in my eyes. So so beautiful.
