My mornings are always yogurt + darjeeling tea, BBC news, e-mails to friends, and Pumpkin flicking CDs off my desk. This morning was a fabulous break from the norm. I got to hang out at the studio of fashion designer Gemma Kahng for a photo shoot for the upcoming issue of Permission magazine. I'm usually the one arranging the shoots, so it was nice to be on the receiving end for a change- dressing up in Gemma's angelic couture and posing on the rooftop above downtown Manhattan. Thankfully the photographer, Markus Hirnigel, went for my 45 rpm prop idea, which relates more to the article than pretty dresses. Gemma played me some heartbreaking Korean music from the late '60s- a singer named Lee Mi Ja who she likened to the "Barbara Streisand of Korea." Fortunately I didn't hear the connection. I flipped through Gemma's press book in her studio and found photos of Madonna, Sharon Stone, and Ivana Trump all sporting her gear. Gemma said that in the early '90s she was all about bold power suits (hence Ivana Trump as a loyal client), but now the bohemian atmosphere of downtown NY is inspiring a more girly and relaxed line. The stuff I got to wear was gorgeous.

I just found out I get to interview one of the main inspirations behind "Cha Cha Charming." Oh. My. God. OK, I need to find a way to get rid of this crazy energy. I can barely sit still.

More later.
