so far so fine

I started my new job this week as BUST magazine's marketing + PR gal. So far so fine! Also, Amylu invited me to join her, Audrey, and Andy Shaw as one of the hosts of Le One Night Stand, which we hope to turn into a regular international pop party. Last night Amylu and I danced til 3 am @ Melody Nelson's fab party Atomique. She is the queen DJ.

OK- change of subject. FED EX just banged on my door with a LONG-AWAITED, HIGHLY ANTICIPATED delivery from the U.K- my first liner notes for CD compilation- It's So Fine- Pye Girls Are Go! featuring 50 tracks from sixties British girlies!!!!!! This calls for extra exclamation points and champagne (well, maybe 11 am is a bit early to start boozing). But I'm feeling euphoric!! Since I first started collecting girl pop (London circa 1995) I relied heavily on liner notes to lead the way. My three fave Brit boys- Mick Patrick, Malcolm Baumgart, Bob Stanley- were compiling and annotating girl pop comps Here Come The Girls and Dream Babes, and I would just gush over the knowledge and the love and the writing that went into these compilations, never even imagining that one day I'd get to do it too (aww... I'm getting all sentimental). It's So Fine hits streets on June 27th, so more details then. For now, I'm just gonna quietly revel in this happiness because the boy + cat that share my living space are starting to get annoyed by my excessive giddiness.
