Just returned from a short trip to Chicago where I did some translating work for my friend Chocolat. She's in the studio with producer John Mcintire (Sea & Cake, Tortoise) mixing her new album (which sounds breezy and beautiful by the way). While John and Chocolat's husband Akito were fine-tuning bass sounds, Chocolat and I were relaxing in the den watching DVD shorts by French animator/ director Michel Ocelot. What simple yet touching storytelling. He must be added to my list of obsessions. I returned the favor by introducing Chocolat to Phil Spector's latest hairstyle, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

This Thursday June 9th, Amylu and Andy Shaw are throwing their second French Pop party Le One Night Stand where I'll be Djing along with Melody Nelson, Josh Styles & Peppermint Twist, and Xavier from Euro-visions. I'm on first (frees me from the responsibility of having to play only dance music) so get there @ 10 pm for free vampire vodka and summery '60s pop. Also, there will be free giveaways from Feist, Nouvelle Vague, and Telepopmusik. And also free issues of BUST magazine.
